As you know, the Census of Agriculture’s 2017 data is out and the acreage seeded to cover crops in the U.S. increased nearly 50% in the past 5 years. In a Q&A interview with senior editor John Dobberstein, Rob Myers, regional director of extension programs for Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE), will talk about why this increased interest is significant to agriculture — in both semi-arid regions and areas where precipitation is plentiful.
Myers will also outline some important changes to crop insurance regulations ushered in with the new Farm Bill, and share his projections on where the U.S. could land with total cover crop acres by 2029.
