The No-Till Award Programs recognize the best farming practices or products that contribute to the successful no-tillage systems. Current awards programs include the No-Till Innovators, Responsible Nutrient Management Practitioners and No-Till Product of the Year.

No-Till Innovator Awards Program

Co-sponsored by Calmer Corn Heads and No-Till Farmer, the No-Till Innovator program has recognized since 1997 a farmer, a researcher/educator, a business and an organization/association that have been leaders or champions of the no-till movement. Award recipients are honored and recognized at the annual National No-Tillage Conference and in the Winter issue of No-Till Farmer’s Conservation Tillage Guide.

No-Till Product of the Year Awards Program

Established in 2006, the No-Till Product of the Year program allows the readers of No-Till Farmer to judge and vote for the products in 13 categories they deem to be the most valuable to their operation. Winners, including an overall No-Till Product of the Year, are recognized at the annual National No-Tillage Conference and in the Winter issue of No-Till Farmer’s Conservation Tillage Guide.

Responsible Nutrient Management Practitioners Program

Co-sponsored by Agro-Culture Liquid Fertilizers and No-Till Farmer, the Responsible Nutrient Management Practitioners program annually recognizes several no-till farmers who have been deemed by a panel of fertility experts for their effective, efficient fertility practices. Award winners are recognized at the annual National No-Tillage Conference where they share their top fertility practices with attendees through a panel discussion, and their farming practices are highlighted in the April issue of No-Till Farmer newsletter.

No-Till’s Living Legends

No-Till Farmer Frank Lessiter, who has reported on no-tillage since putting out the first edition of No-Till Farmer in 1972, assembled his own personal list of the growers, educators and suppliers who played a key role in advancing the no-till practice since its meager beginnings in 1962. His list has been updated twice and featured in From Maverick to Mainstream: A History of No-Till Farming. The most recent list, updated in 2022, recognizes “60 No-Till Legends for 60 Years of No-Till.”
