Prof. Janzen, Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics, University of Illinois, is an agricultural economist who studies the causes of commodity price fluctuations and the effects of these shocks on producers, consumers, and traders in the agricultural economy. His research has been featured in leading academic journals in agricultural economics and in popular press including the Financial Times, the New York Times, and Bloomberg. He is an active member of the farmdoc team. His research program on commodity price and trading dynamics is connected to his extension work on commodity market outlook, including numerous articles for farmdoc daily, presentations to industry groups, and appearances in print, radio, television, and social media. His research and extension work have received numerous awards from the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association, the European Association of Agricultural Economists, and the Western Agricultural Economics Association among others.
