No-tillers face some important decisions this fall on what to do with fields that went unplanted because of spring storms that inundated the Midwest.

No tillers have many cover-crop options that can improve soil tilth, warm up temperatures at planting time, manage pest problems and much more, according to experts who spoke to about 100 no-tillers attending the Ohio No-Till Council’s field day earlier this fall.

When left to her own devices, Mother Nature makes sure there is something living and growing in the soil at all times.

I recently attended Ohio’s annual winter No-Till Conference and picked up several tips from some new and veteran no-till professionals. Held in early December, conference attendance was tremendous with more than 200 participants — a testament to increasing interest in no-till by many producers.
