“Cover crops fill a nice niche. If you can get a cover crop between your corn and beans, that works beautifully for keeping the ground covered, keeping leftover nutrients from leaving the field and getting erosion under control.…” — Hans Kok
A transplant from The Netherlands, Hans Kok has a unique perspective on no-till systems in the U.S. and beyond. Having worked with farmers in Washington state, Spain, Indiana, and more, he has a hands-on understanding of what farmers are doing to make no-till work in their environments.
He’s a frequent presenter at agricultural meetings, including our own National No-Tillage Conference, and has worked with a wide range of organizations to advocate the use of no-till farming techniques.
P.S. There’s lots more great no-till stories and history in Frank Lessiter’s new book, From Maverick to Mainstream: A History of No-Till Farming. Check it out here.
No-Till Farmer's podcast series is brought to you by Calmer Corn Heads.
