While cover crop seeding has been growing by leaps and bounds in the no-till community the last several years, getting them established can be a challenge, even for the most seasoned no-tillers.
Whether it’s using covers to improve soil health or as an alternative feed source for livestock, there’s plenty of homework and planning to be done to make cover crops a successful venture.
In the second half of this two-part podcast series, cover crop educator and Pennsylvania no-tiller Steve Groff will share some important insights for no-tillers who are grazing cover crops on their operation or thinking about doing so.
He’ll also detail the kind of planning process no-tillers should have in place when seeding cover crops and why they should look at least 12 months in advance, and what questions no-tillers should to ask when choosing a seed supplier to work with.
