[Video] Identifying Key Strategies for Slowing the Growth of Herbicide Resistance

Weed resistance has been an ongoing battle for no-tillers across the U.S. for 40 years. And while many herbicides entered the market with the promise of being the next great solution against a broad range of weeds, overusing products with the same modes of action has hindered the effectiveness of herbicides, leading to weed resistance and fewer options to control weeds that impact yields and profitability.

Larry Steckel, University of Tennessee Extension weed specialist, and Sarah Gehant, agronomic service representative with Syngenta, will explore factors that have contributed to weed resistance, the current state of resistance in major crops and how a grower’s weed management practices can impact their farm. They’ll also identify key strategies farmers can use and transformative technologies in the pipeline that can help delay the spread of herbicide resistance.
