Case IH has introduced the 2140 Early Riser pivot fold planter. Six configurations of ultra-narrow row spacing options combine with accurate planting technologies for high-efficiency planting. Designed to easily transition from an operational width of 44 feet to a transport width of 13.5 feet, the 2140 Early Riser delivers excellent ground clearance for unmatched terrain flexibility and a pivot fold transport package so producers can easily move from field to field and navigate tight field entrances.
“The 2140 Early Riser is two planters in one efficient machine,” said Tony McClelland, Case IH planter marketing manager. “Whether planting corn in level fields or soybeans in contoured terrain with twists and turns, the planter delivers consistent depth and seed placement for unmatched accuracy.”
Two planters, one efficient machine
The ultra-narrow 15-inch row spacing is perfect for no-till or minimum-till environments. Additionally, producers can choose between even and odd rows, for an extra 15 inches to improve productivity and fit individual farming practices. The 2140 Early Riser is also available in 20- and 22-inch spacing.
Tool-free adjustments help producers quickly convert from corn to soybeans. Then, with just a click of a button, the AFS Pro 700 display hydraulically lifts split row units to switch crop types.
“The speed of changeover is going to save producers time and grunt work,” McClelland said. “Instead of having to manually lift or lower up to 16 rows, they can now changeover from the cab.”
Another productivity-enhancing feature is the factory-integrated furrow system. Specifically designed for the 2140 planter, the in-furrow liquid fertilizer and granular chemical system saves extra passes in the field and allows producers to precisely manage nutrients.
Unmatched terrain flexibility
Improved wing flexibility helps producers navigate rapid terrain changes without sacrificing accurate seed depth and ensures durability in any field. Seventeen degrees of wing flexibility, which means 21 inches of wheel travel on a 40-foot toolbar — plus 60 percent increased vertical row unit travel — allows for consistent seed depth in undulating terrain and terraced fields.
Producers will also see reduced compaction, reduced rutting and increased stability — thanks to wing wheels that carry their own weight.
“The hydraulic assist wing wheels carry the load of the planter during headland turns. This removes up to 8,800 pounds of weight from the center of the toolbar to maximize every inch of the field,” McClelland said.
Producers will also benefit from added flotation with the optional Rowtrac Carrier System. This track system puts more square inches on the ground, increasing flotation for a smoother toolbar ride and reduced compaction. The option will be available for 2019 planting.
High-efficiency planting: cover more ground in less time
The 2140 Early Riser planter continues the accuracy, durability and simplicity found throughout the 2000 series Early Riser lineup. Toolbars from 30 to 90 feet allow producers to move quickly from field to field with the flexibility and technology they need to speed up planting without sacrificing agronomic performance.
“The Early Riser row unit creates the industry’s only flat-bottom seed trench to provide proper depth and more consistent seed placement,” McClelland added. “From there, the gentle two-stage closing system ensures excellent seed-to-soil contact for fast germination and uniform plant growth.”
Highlights of the 2140 Early Riser planter include:
- Rugged row unit built for unrivaled accuracy and dependability — up to 10 mph, depending on field conditions.
- 26-inch toolbar clearance, plus a 60 percent increase in vertical row unit travel to accommodate rapid terrain changes.
- Industry’s most accurate factory-integrated technology, including vSet 2 meter with vDrive electric drive, DeltaForce hydraulic down force, SpeedTube, and CleanSweep air cylinders.
- Automatic and in-cab adjustments and tool-free crop changes help to quickly adapt to in-field conditions.
- Single screen control with AFS Pro 700 allows operator to control all planter function and provides AFS Connect 2-way File Transfer to seamlessly move data to and from the tractor.
The 2140 planter is the third model in the 2000 series lineup. The portfolio also includes the 2150 Early Riser small front fold planter, available in 12-, 16- or 24-row 30-inch configurations, and the 2160 Early Riser large front fold planter, available in 32-row 30-inch or 36-row 20-, 22- or 30-inch configurations.
