In one of the largest retrospective studies ever done on glyphosate effectiveness, researchers from the USDA and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign warn against continued use of a single herbicide year-over-year. After the first several years of repeated glyphosate use, there is a rapid decrease in effectiveness against 7 major weeds, according to a study that assessed 25 years of data from the USDA and University of Illinois.
Memorial services for Bill Northey, former Iowa ag secretary and USDA leader, honored a man who made a “tremendous impact” on soil conservation, water quality and renewable energy in Iowa and beyond.
