Seed Vault Nears Two Decades In Operation
The Svalbard Global Seed Vault, which retains viable seeds as a means towards safeguarding biodiversity, celebrates its 16th year in continuous operation this week. The vault is operated by the Crop Trust, which in turn is operated by the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture. The vault has the capacity to hold 2.25 billion viable seeds for decades. The a brief history of the vault is available online.

This video of a 20-foot Kinze 2500 8/15 split row planter no-tilling soybeans in upstate New York might bring tears to the eyes of some, even if it's from the thought of work still ahead. This video from YouTuber bigtractorpower highlights the 175 hp John Deere 6030, which has been modified to include a precision screen.
Alternative Nitrogen At Work In Ohio
This video of swine manure applied to no-till corn with a rye cover crop in mid-May shows a sign of the times: the use of manure for fertilizer. The video, posted by Ohio State University Extension Marion County, also discusses the population plant effects from the tractor tires, and the way in which the manure is absorbed.
