I got to travel to a lot of farms and meet a lot of farmers. And one thing was consistent everywhere I went in the United States and that is that farm fields were blowing in the wind…and farmers were going out of business. You know, farmers were going bust, and the fields were turning to dust.…” – Josh Tickell, Author and Director, Kiss the Ground

It’s not every day that a feature film about farming practices makes a debut, but recently that’s exactly what happened. What’s even more exciting is that many No-Till Farmer readers are already familiar with some of the stars of the show. Ray Archuleta, Gabe Brown, Kris Nichols and Allan Savory are amongst the soil health and regenerative ag experts that appear in the new film Kiss the Ground, directed by film makers Josh and Rebecca Tickell who have ag experience of their own.

In this episode of the No-Till Farmer podcast series, I caught up with Josh and Rebecca to get a little inside scoop about their latest film, which takes a wide-ranging look at regenerative ag practices and how they can be used to can help sequester carbon in the soil, reduce greenhouse gasses in the environment and improve the nutrient content of the food we eat. Tune in to hear what they have to say about their experience making the film, the transformational power of regenerative ag practices, why the commodity crop insurance program is problematic, the efforts to move policy in a direction to support farmers, and much more.

P.S. There’s lots more great no-till stories and history in Frank Lessiter’s new book, From Maverick to Mainstream: A History of No-Till Farming. Check it out here: www.no-tillfarmer.com/notillmaverick
