Consistent rains across Ohio and the Corn Belt continue to delay planting progress, as the June 17 USDA Planting Progress report showed that 68% of intended corn acres and 50% of intended soybean acres have been planted in Ohio.

With improved weather in much of the Corn Belt this week farmers should make some significant progress in getting their corn and soybeans in the ground. They will need it because, as of this past Sunday, May 12, planting lagged far behind what one might expect at this point in the season.

Planting progress may have been slowed by the recent precipitation, but weed emergence continues despite wet field conditions.
