Green Cover Seed is hosting the second annual Southern Soil Health Conference at the Ardmore Convention Center in Ardmore, Okla., on Jan. 12-13, 2016.
Focusing solely on soil health, cover crops and grazing, 75% of the registration slots will be reserved for the people involved directly with the land — prodution agriculture (crops and/or livestock) and land owners. The conference will also be producer-driven, as almost every speaker and presenter is a farmer. Keynote speakers for this event include Allen Williams, an animal scientist who is the found partner and president of LMC, an agriculture and food industry consulting firm that specializes in enhanced farm and food company sustainability and profitability, as well as a founding partner of Grass Fed Beef; Steve Tucker; John Heerman; and Darin Williams.
In addition, the conference will have 8-10 Texas and Oklahoma producers, including Jimmy Emmons, Craig Watson, Yates Adcock, and Max Martin, who will share their individual experiences with soil health and how it's affected their farming operations.
Because the conference is focused on knowledge and learning, it will not have a commercial tradeshow to promote individual companies or products.
Cost of registration through Nov. 30 is $125 per person. It'll increase to $150 from Dec. 1-31, and then to $175. Registration for a spouse or students ages 13 and up can register for $75 at any time. Children 12 and under can attend the event for free and there will be select times of fun and engaging activities geared for their specific age groups while the conference is ongoing. Kid-friendly food will also be served.
Registration includes lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as dinner on Tuesday evening.
