Growers and landlords interested in improving soil health with cover crops are invited to participate in a free, 90-minute meeting at the Lewiston office of the Land Stewardshop Project (LSP).
The meeting will provide an opportunity to swap ideas about seed selection, crop rotations, research possibilities and LSP's Haney soil testing program.
Jim Paulson, a forage and livestock specialist with University of Minnesota Extension who is conducting research on cover crops for the region, will join the discussion. Following the meeting will be an optional carpooling trip to Durand, Wis., to view seven different cover crop species from 1-3:30 p.m. The field event is free and participants should bring a lunch to eat during the drive.
To RSVP for the meeting, contact Caroline van Schaik at 507-523-3366 or caroline@landstewardshipproject.org.
