Last year an Extension official told me that while conferences are always popular, many farmers are either too busy to travel or say they already have enough events on their plate and “don’t need another one to go to.”

That led to discussions here at No-Till Farmer on how we can make our educational tools more flexible, taking advantage of the reach we have with the Internet. That lead to Lessiter Media’s decision to launch a cover crop website and a ‘virtual’ event this year that will bring cover crop learning to your doorstep.

The website, Cover Crop Strategies — www.covercropstrategies.com — is slated to go live on Feb. 9. That will be followed by Lessiter Media’s debut of the National Cover Crop Summit, bringing together some of the best and brightest minds in cover crop management. The online summit, free of charge, will be held March 20-21, 2019.

You can learn more about this exciting summit and register for it by clicking here or scrolling to the No-Till News section below to read the official announcement.

Of course, the Great Plains will be well-represented at the summit, as Paul DeLaune from Texas A&M University, no-tiller and rancher Shawn Tiffany of Kansas and no-tiller Chris Teachout from southwestern Iowa are on the agenda to share some of their insights on cover crop management that could help you succeed with covers on your own farm.

We’re still securing a few more speakers for the summit and you’ll want to register to keep up with the announcements. Fennig Equipment, Gandy, I& J Mfg., Montag Mfg., Underground Agriculture and Walnut Creek Seeds have agreed to sponsor this unique event.

We’re very excited to offer you these new tools for cover crop learning that can be accessed from the tractor cab, shop, home office or anywhere you’ve got an Internet connection. We hope you’ll check this out and participate as we work to make cover crops a successful endeavor on as many farms as possible.
