If wheat is yellow it's important to determine the cause, Kansas State University says, as growers can take action in some situations and correct the problem.
The Nutra-K line consists of five specialized potassium products with low-salt formulations that boost potassium and sulfur levels for maximum yield and crop quality.
Asgrow/Dekalb technical agronomist Lance Tarochione says soybeans remove a lot more nutrients than no-tillers realize, and meeting their fertility needs is key to higher yields.
Coarse-textured soils with low potential for sulfur mineralization from organic matter may be at risk for sulfur deficiency that can limit soybean yields.
As the name would imply, evaporite minerals form by the evaporation of sea water millions of years ago. Gypsum and limestone are two evaporite minerals found in Kansas and used for agricultural amendments.
In recent years, sulfur (S) deficiency in wheat has become common in many areas, particularly in no-till wheat. Classic S deficiency symptoms, confirmed by soil and plant analysis, have been observed in many no-till wheat fields during periods of rapid growth in the spring.
Precision technology, cover crops and innovative equipment are helping Indiana no-tiller and strip-tiller Mike Shuter and sons get the most out of two different conservation-tillage systems.
The 1980s were difficult times for farmers, and it was no different for Mike Shuter and his family. Hoping to make due with less, they looked to no-till to reduce fuel, labor and expenses, with the hope of maintaining yields.

Dec. 30, 2013 There is widespread concern about potential sulfur (S) deficiencies in corn and soybeans in the North Central region. Sulfur is relatively immobile within the plant, so symptoms usually appear in the new growth. Atmospheric deposition used to supply a considerable amount of plant available S (about 8 to 15 pounds per acre annually), but with the implementation of the Clean Air Act, this amount has significantly decreased.
