We’ve pretty much wrapped up this season in terms of insect control. Below are the last few reminders as we close out this year’s crop.

With kudzu bug populations this season, growers need to focus their efforts on the other soybean pests, including the corn earworm/tobacco budworm, stink bugs and defoliators.

A random inspection of a 2-leaf cornfield, no-tilled into a burned down grassy cover crop in west central Indiana, revealed some armyworm leaf feeding.

DuPont Prevathon insect control powered by Rynaxypyr has received United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registration for use on cereal crops, including wheat, most other small grains and sorghum. Prevathon was first registered in 2011 for use on cotton, corn, pasture and hay crops, including alfalfa. It provides control against lepidopteran worms, such as fall armyworm, true armyworm, corn earworm, sorghum webworm and loopers.

By now many of you have heard of, or at least thought about, the possibly of an early black cutworm and true armyworm migration.
