In the first of this 3-part series, Nick Marley, an agronomist and certified crop advisor, is interviewed by Cassie Yontz of the Illinois Soybean Association. He addresses early season soybean health and how such problems can often be identified below ground because early season soils tend to be wetter and colder than later in the season.
Our second podcast in this episode is titled, “Fungicide timing and use in production,” and the speaker is Chad Kahaler an agronomist with Beck’s Hybrids. Chad will address a range of regional diseases that can affect soybeans and the differences between fungal diseases, viruses and bacterial diseases.
Stinkbugs are pests that are known to cause damage to vegetable crops, but they can be a threat to soybeans as well. In the final podcast, we’ll hear from Stephanie Porter, sales agronomist with Burris Hybrids as she tells us more about a particular species of stinkbug, the brown marmorated stinkbug, and how this pest can attack soybean pods during development, thus negatively impacting yields.
In this episode of the No-Till Farmer podcast, brought to you by Yetter Manufacturing Company, we feature three short podcasts originally developed by the Illinois Soybean Association checkoff program. These presentations include, “Evaluating Early Season Plant Health,” “Fungicide Timing & Use in Production” and “Stinkbug Activities in Soybeans.”
