The news outlet reports that experts from the U.N.’s Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Health Organization (WHO) say the herbicide is “unlikely to pose a carcinogenic risk to humans” exposed to it through food. The committee added that it’s unlikely to have a destructive effect on human cells’ genetic material.

The review contradicts last year’s findings by WHO’s International Agency for Research on Cancer, which said glyphosate was “probably” able to cause cancer in humans.

The EPA Cancer Review Assessment Committee also classified glyphosate as “Not Likely to be Carcinogenic to Humans” and published its assessment to its website in late April. However, they removed it a few days later without explanation.
