SURFACE APPLICATION VS. INJECTING. Surface application of nitrogen still works with some no-till situations, but youâ??ve got to be careful how you do it to protect the environment and get full return for each dollar spent on fertilizing.

Reduce Surface-Applied Nitrogen Losses

Make sure you’re getting full value from nitrogen applied to your no-tilled crops.

When it comes to surface-applying UAN solutions or urea, it’s easy to end up with considerable losses due to volatilization.

Check the management ideas No-Till Farmer readers are using to reduce this costly loss of nitrogen while taking steps to protect the environment.
