Scholarship Contest Continues To Spark Interest In Conservation Tillage

Phoenix Rotary Equipment Ltd. once again is sponsoring an essay contest that will grant $5,000 among three deserving students.

On the successful heels of last year’s inaugural conservation tillage scholarship contest, Phoenix Rotary Equipment Ltd. will once again sponsor this year’s essay contest. By eloquently writing about an aspect of conservation tillage, three high school or college students will earn a substantial scholarship, which will help them pay for furthering their education.

Last year, almost 80 students participated in this event, an impressive number for a first-year contest. The anticipated response should be even better this year, according to the sponsor, Phoenix Rotary Equipment Ltd.

“For it being a first-time contest last year, we had a strong turnout,” says Russell Clark, vice president of sales and marketing for Phoenix Rotary Equipment. “We’re hoping to get the word out and grow the contest every year from now on.”

Once again, deserving winners will receive a share of the $5,000 purse. The top essay will earn $2,500 while the second-place finisher takes home $1,500 and third place will receive $1,000.

Winning entries will be announced at the 11th annual National No-Tillage Conference being held in Indianapolis, Ind., from Jan. 8 to 11, 2003. Entrants do not have to be present at the conference to win. But participants should begin to think about their essay topics now as the cut-off date for submission is rapidly approaching. All essays are due by Nov. 15, 2002.
