Combining new technologies with the best features of planters and drills, the new 3N-3010P and 3N-3020P seeding rigs from Great Plains Manufacturing feature meters that singulate soybean, corn and cotton seed while volumetrically metering smaller grains like wheat and rice. The extra-large wheel on this 30-foot unit turns slowly, allowing the meter to operate efficiently at speeds as fast as 8 miles per hour.
The quickly interchangeable meter wheels let a no-tiller shut off the flow to each row unit without having to empty the hoppers. The meter mounts low on the newly designed row unit so singulated seed has only a short distance to travel to reach the bottom of the furrow.
Great Plains engineers say these ultra narrow-row units make planting on 7 1/2-inch wide row spacing much more practical. The new row units incorporate planter style seed tubes so each row can be monitored with an optional flow or population monitor.
No-tillers can choose between side depth wheel openers with spring-loaded press wheels or rear depth-gauging press wheels. All row units feature a newly designed seed flap that helps eliminate seed bounce.
The wing boxes fold 180 degrees, creating a compact transport size with low tongue weight. In the folded position, the gauge wheels align with each other to spread out machine weight for less soil compaction and more stability on the road.
An extra-large seedbox and sliding fill tubes keep each row unit constantly supplied with seed. A coulter mounted in front of…
