New “Green Line” Seeding Era Emerges

John Deere recently introduced a number of new no-till planters, drills and air drills.

Several revolutionary seed delivery systems and row units are among numerous new technology developments in John Deere’s new line of seeding equipment. The result will help no-tillers seed more accurately and much faster.

1590 No-Till Drill

Following the highly popular 750 and 1560 no-till drills, the 1590 no-till drill offers more productivity and profitability. A new seed boot that improves wear and seed placement has been realigned to the center of the opener arm’s hub. This lets seed drop directly opposite the depth gauge wheel while providing a narrower profile to reduce seed boot wear and provide better seed depth control and placement.

For increased no-till wear, the 7 1/2-inch row units feature a nodular cast-iron seed boot. There’s improved spring pressure for holding the boot to the blade and increased clearance between the blade, steel seed tube and arm for improved no-till residue flow. To keep no-till residue, especially corn stalks, from catching, a newly designed residue shield leads to more positive seed depth control.

Thanks to a electronic rate control system, no-tillers can monitor and adjust seed populations on the go. By achieving target rates with extremely accurate settings, no-tillers can save large amounts of seed.

The 1590 no-till drill is also available in a 20 foot width with 10-inch row spacing to improve airflow between no-tilled rows to minimize the potential for white mold disease.
