Handling Adversity During Tough Times

Ever since you started your no-tilling operation, you’ve known you’re not immune to cropping problems. There are years that you still brag about to anyone who will listen, then there are years (maybe this was one of them) you’d rather permanently erase from your memory due to the drought.

How do you handle the lowest of the low times? Do you sit around the house and second-guess every no-tilling move you made? Or do you look back on those “glory” seasons with the hope that you’ll return to that point someday?

If this wasn’t the best year of your career, you might need to get a few pointers from some fellow farmers, and you may need a pep talk from someone who has seen the worst that life has to offer but has made a roaring comeback.

You’ll receive both if you attend this winter’s National No-Tillage Conference in Indianapolis, Ind., from Jan. 8 to 11, 2003. After a few days of intensive no-till learning, you’ll be able to sit back at the Friday night banquet and hear from Rosemarie Rossetti, who will certainly have you praising every moment you spend on your farm, whether it’s a great season or one to forget.
