Liquid Formulated Define Offers Season-Long Control Of Tough Grasses

With the recent registration of a convenient, low-rate liquid formulation of Define SC, Bayer CropScience now offers a new option this herbicide for season-long grass control in corn.

The longest-lasting oxyacetamide on the market today, the new formulation of Define SC allows no-tillers more flexibility in their weed control programs along with outstanding crop safety. “We know growers and retailers want a simple herbicide program that offers great control,” says Rob Schrick, Bayer CropScience herbicide product manager. “While the dry formulation of Define has been a growing favorite, many users have asked for an easy-to-use liquid formulation to expand their flexibility.”

This herbicide provides season-long control of tough grasses such as yellow, green and giant foxtail, fall panicum, barnyardgrass and crabgrass as well as some small-seeded broadleaf weeds. Application options include early post, pre-plant surface, pre-plant incorporation or pre-emergence application that make it a convenient herbicide alternative for no-tillers.

The liquid formulation of the herbicide can be used as an early pre-plant surface application as long as 45 days before no-tilling when used in a sequential program. It can also be applied in a fall application in eight states.

The liquid formulation is flexible enough to be applied with water or liquid nitrogen as a carrier or it can be impregnated on dry fertilizer. Adding to its flexibility is the fact that Define SC is more rain tolerant than other amides.
