FMC Agricultural Solutions announced a new Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) crop registration of its Anthem SE herbicide for use on soybeans. 

Introduced for corn in fall of 2012, Anthem herbicide controls broadleaf weeds and grasses. Now available for soybeans, Anthem offers growers a soybean application window up to 45 days pre-plant through V3 with 4 to 8 weeks of residual activity. Applied in-season, growers can combine the concentrated liquid formulation of Anthem with tank mixes of companion herbicides with effective rates as low as 4 to 11 ounces per acre.

In research trials, Anthem provided soybean growers weed control and crop safety, resulting in a significant yield advantage, according to FMC. With one-tank flexibility from corn to soybeans, growers can now go directly from one field to the next, without cleaning the sprayer and switching to a different product.

“Growers have seen Anthem prevent emergence of broadleaf weeds and grass, including glyphosate-resistant weeds in spring, and seen its residual action continuing to offer control through row closure,” said Aaron Locker, FMC Agricultural Solutions North America marketing director.
