Russell Hedrick’s Corn Already 14 Feet Tall
Russell Hedrick, Hickory, N.C., no-tiller and 2022 dryland corn yield world record breaker, posted this photo on Facebook showing his 14 feet tall corn. He says he’ll do one more pass on nutrients and foliar with a drone. Hedrick talked about his nutrient program during his 2023 National No-Tillage Conference presentation.
No-Till Helps Combat Drought
Some Ozaukee County, Wis., farmers who switched to no-till say fields are retaining more water and soil is noticeably higher quality, proving that no-till could be a great solution for drought-stricken areas.
Anderson Industries Unveils Replica of 150 Case Road Locomotive Steam Tractor
Kory and Kevin Anderson (Kevin you may remember as the inventor of the Anderson opener for no-tillers and former NNTC speaker), share a project for a replica of the largest steam tractor in history. Only 9 of the 150 CASE tractors were built by the J.I. Case Co. between 1905 and 1907, but none survived. Kory, who is Kevin's son, and Anderson Industries recreated it using the original blueprints from the Case company, with some 50 people, $1.5 million and 4,000 hours invested.

No-Tiller Shows Drought Update on His Farm
Jon Stevens of Maple Grove Farms in Rock Creek, Minn., talks about how his crops are doing given the difficult drought that he and so many others have been dealing with this summer. Stevens credits no-till and snow/rain from the winter and early spring for having any salvageable crop at all.
