No-Tiller Blazes a Conservation Trail When Others Said it Couldn’t Be Done
During his tenure on his Wisconsin family farm, Tom Perlick has gone beyond just no-till and cover crops. From wetlands restoration to forestry management to growing sunflowers and much more, his conservation legacy is all about changing attitudes.
No-Tiller Says Neighbors Would Call Him Crazy
Now in his third year of no-tilling, Matthew Krueger of northwest Minnesota says he can visibly see a positive difference in residue each year as he continues to no-till soybeans into corn stubble. Check out this twitter thread for some tips from other no-tillers too.
Most in our area would call me crazy for doing this, but this is our third year of #notill bean planting in corn stubble and I’m impressed each year how well it plants. This year by far has the most residue leftover. #plant23 @AgMafiaLLC #notill #kdkruegerfarms pic.twitter.com/KRdUq5TuOb

Why Taking Soil Samples Is So Important
Jay Young of Young Red Angus Farms in Greeley County, Kan., demonstrates how he takes soil samples on his farm and talks about why soil sampling is so important for no-tillers. Plus, Young breaks down the stigma of why many farmers have a fear of failure or a fear of the unknown when it comes to testing their soil.
Advice Wanted: Trying No-Till for the First Time
In western Kentucky, a husband and wife are trying no-till on their farm for the first time and looking for some feedback. The owners of Stinson Farms say they’ve never tried no-till corn before, but in this video, they’re planting into pasture ground and a hay field using a 1966 John Deere 3020 and 1974 John Deere 7000 planter.
Building Topsoil By Planting Green
Dennis Reer of 5 R Farms in Attica, Ohio, is building and preserving topsoil by no-tilling corn into living hairy vetch and cereal rye. He shared this post in the Ohio Soil Health and Cover Crops Facebook group to show his progress.
