New formulations for weed and insect control, reformulations of plant disease protection and miscellaneous plant health enhancing products populate the 2023 Crop Protection Roundup

No-Till Farmer polled crop protection companies about their new offerings for the coming growing season, and those efforts have yielded the following list:

Weed Control

Growers have treated their weeds for more than two decades with BASF’s Beyond herbicide for Clearfield Production System crops and Raptor herbicide for alfalfa, dry beans and soybeans. Now both Beyond and Raptor are one product, Beyond Xtra, available for the 2023 growing season.

BASF says the new formulation provides a post-emergence control and suppression for many broadleaf and grass weeds, offers simplicity and versatility to grower chemical purchases, and offers a label containing more than 15 crops.

Bayer’s TriVolt herbicide has been registered by the EPA as a selective corn herbicide offering built-in resistance management and high levels of weed control.

TriVolt contains three different active ingredients: Thiencarbazone, flufenacet and isoxaflutole from Groups 2, 15 and 27 herbicides, respectively. The proprietary combination provides burndown and residual activity for up to 8 weeks through a variety of weather conditions. When tank-mixed with atrazine, TriVolt delivers four separate sites of action to combat grass and broadleaf weeds such as waterhemp, foxtail species, common ragweed, kochia and Palmer amaranth.

Recommended application timing for TriVolt is at preplant, pre-emergence/at planting with flexibility to be applied at early post-emergence.
