Row cleaners are a must for your planter. You want to make sure you remove all of the residue so that your seed is only in contact with soil.
- In order to check your row cleaners, give them a spin. Make sure that you don’t have any loose bearings.
- Next, check the frame of the row cleaner to confirm that your pivot bushings are tight.
If any of those maintenance items need to be taken care of, address them before planting season.
The tine or spike style of row cleaner is intended to be used in tillage conditions. The razor wheel style of row cleaner is intended for no-till conditions where you’re cutting into residue on the surface and sweeping it away.
