Pumped for No-Tilling Pumpkins
Farmer Dre in southwest Missouri is getting ready for fall, planting a “You-Pick” pumpkin patch. He explains how he adapted a John Deere 7000 corn planter to space seeds 4 feet apart on 36-inch rows as the planter moves through a cover-cropped field that had been terminated the day before.
No-Till Soybeans for Food Plots
Planting soybeans for food plots may not be a common practice, but Ryan Nordahl of Epic Whitehall Habitat in Osseo, Wis., explains why he’s no-tilling forage soybeans into standing cereal rye. He’s not even worried about the recent lack of precipitation.
With Ray Archuleta, It’s All About the Soil
The Field Work podcast with Mitchell Hora caught up with soil health guru Ray Archuleta after a field day at Dave Brandt’s farm. Ray’s bottom line: “Cover the ground with living plants. Soil without life is geology.”
The Seed Terminator
In this short video, Dr. Nick Berry discusses the Seed Terminator, billed as the “future of weed control.” His combine attachment controls weeds “by preventing them from existing in the first place,” by destroying the seeds themselves. Berry, who has been recognized as a Tech Disruptor in Australia, plans to bring his unit to farmers worldwide.
How to Test Soil Health
No-tiller Matt Griggs (and his pooch!) along with Matthew Denton from the NRCS get out in the field in Humboldt, Tenn., to demonstrate how to go about evaluating various soil attributes. Four long-term plots with different treatments are tested for compaction, aggregate stability, organic matter depletion and soil organism habitation degradation.
Improving Soil Health with Covers and a Diverse Rotation
In this webinar from No-Till Farmer, sponsored by La Crosse Seed, Dan Forgey of Cronin Farms in Gettysburg, S.D., explains how the operation adopted a diversified no-till system in order to focus on improving soil health using cover crops in a rotation of corn, spring wheat, winter wheat, sunflowers, soybeans, flax, field peas and lentils. He also talks about managing moisture, increasing soil organic matter and the benefits of animal integration.

Make Spraying Fun!
Today's complex chemical mixtures usually have a combination of bulk, jugs, and dry products. The high value products usually come in small packages. Mixmate is the only system designed to measure and process these products quickly. Jugs are processed in about 12 seconds. The Mixmate Fusion has a high flow rate rinsing system to ease dry product measurement and induction. This makes mixing on demand a breeze!
