With more than 50% of No-Till Farmer readers using cover crops, there’s a thirst among farmers to see if they can benefit from cover crops. Through its interactive Selector Tool, the Midwest Cover Crops Council is trying to help farmers in eight states and the province of Ontario identify cover crops with a specific objective in mind. Eileen Kladivko, a soils specialist and agronomist with Purdue University, outlines strategies for selecting cover crops based on your goals, cropping rotation and no-till system objectives, all with the idea of helping you be more effective and efficient using covers.
