Dairy farming is in the bloodlines of Franke Dijkstra’s Dutch ancestors. For nearly 40 years, the Brazilian farmer has found no-till to be the ideal system to raise the forage necessary for his herd to produce anywhere from 5,000 to 6,500 gallons of milk per acre.

Dijkstra will explain how animal waste is recycled to the soil and composted for biogas energy in an environmentally benign model. He will also share how cover cropping fits into his intensive cropping system to make the union between cattle and cropping to be more profitable.
