When Cameron Mills went into farming full-time at the age of 21, it wasn’t long before he made the move to no-till. The efficiencies gained by removing tillage passes have allowed Mills to expand his cropping acreage from 650 to 3,500.
The Walton, Ind., no-tiller will discuss the practices he’s implemented through the years that have made no-till acreage more productive, including the use of chicken litter, split applications of nitrogen during sidedress, at-plant fertility practices and the use of gypsum. He will also share what he’s learned from 10 years of cover crop use, weed management, his approach to field tile and measures to balance soil fertility and improve soil health.
