The Freeborn Area Soil Health Team is putting on the 3rd annual Soil Health Winter Workshop. This event will be held at Wedgewood Cove on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There will be a $20 fee due at the door to attend — cash or checks accepted only. There will be 3.5 CEU credits available for Soil and Water Management.

9:30-10:00 Registration and Refreshments
10:00-12:00 Sarah Carlson: Practical farmers of Iowa research coordinator will present on how utilizing cover crops improves the health of soils.
12:00-1:00 Lunch
1:00-1:45 Jerry Ackerman: Once a conventional farmer, over the past 18 years Jerry has transitioned his farm to strip-till and no-till. In the last couple of years he has added cover crops. Learn about the ups and downs Jerry has experienced during this transition.
1:45-2:30 TJ Kartes: Learn about what local farmers on the Freeborn Area Soil Health Team have experienced through the use of cover crops.
