The Freeborn Area Soil Health Team will be hosting its 3rd annual Spring Soil Health Field Day to promote soil health, water quality and cover crops on Saturday, June 4, from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. The event will take place at Fritz Jensen’s Farm at 29825 County Road 45 Clarks Grove, Minn. Tim Radatz a research specialist from the Minnesota Agricultural Water Resources Center will be presenting data on the movement of nitrogen, phosphorus and sediment into surface waters at their research locations in Southern Minnesota. Joining us all the way from Indiana will be farmer and cover crop consultant Jamie Scott. Scott will speak on his experience of helping producers with the regulations that were enforced in the Lake Erie Watershed as a way to improve its poor water quality.
Since water quality has become a growing concern throughout Minnesota and the nation, the Freeborn Area Soil Health Team wants to help farmers become proactive in their endeavors to improve soil and water quality. If you have any questions or would like to RSVP to this event, contact Senja Viktora at 507.373.5607 ext. 105 or by email at senja.viktora@mn.nacdnet.net. Lunch will be provided free of charge.
