Can Modified Blind Inlets at Terrace Sites Reduce N and P Loads?
University of Iowa researchers partnered with no-tiller Mike Paustian of Scott County, Iowa, to install modified blind inlets at terrace sites, a new conservation practice that removes the orange tile inlet and replaces it with what’s essentially a French drain to act as a sediment filter. Paustian and the researchers explain the project and its goals in this YouTube video.
17 Ag Groups Sue EPA Over Waters of the US Definition
A group of 17 organizations filed a lawsuit Jan. 19 over the EPA’s new Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) definition, which gives federal protection to large waterways like interstate rivers and streams. Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall says the new rule is “vague” and puts farmers in a position where they will have to hire lawyers to establish the boundaries of farming, reports The Daily Scoop.
