As cover-crop use has grown, Kevin Bradley says desiccation and proper control of cover crops prior to planting have taken center stage. The University of Missouri weed specialist offers his perspective on several topics related to herbicide use and control.
Bradley looks at the species you may want to avoid if not committed to proper management; herbicide programs that offer effective kill of cereal rye, annual ryegrass, hairy vetch and more; the effects of cover crops on winter and summer annual weed emergence; and corn or soybean herbicide programs most likely to carryover and cause injury to fall cover-crop plantings.
