2024 Pre-Conference, On-Farm Workshop

From Data to Action: How Water Quality Projects Improve No-Till Farming

No-Till Innovator Mike Starkey hosted the 2024 National No-Tillage Conference pre-conference workshop at his farm shop just 30 minutes northwest of Indianapolis. He and Bob Barr, research scientist at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, shared data from their latest water quality monitoring project, and discussed its impact on Starkey's Brownsburg, Ind., operation and the surrounding community that's home to more than 2 million people. Attendees had the chance to examine the 2023 Innovator Award recipient's sprayer and talk shop about the conservation practices in place on his farm. A sit-down dinner at Starkey's modern farm shop followed the workshop.
