University of Nebraska Extension is conducting a 2-day tour of visits to several growers in southeast Nebraska and northeast Kansas. The tour will depart from and return to Beatrice, Neb.
The preliminary itinerary includes the following stops:
• Steve Wiese near Crete, Neb., does pivot-irrigated crops with no-till corn double-cropped for silage and has a beef drylot on-site.
• Josh Lloyd in Oakhill, Kan., is a continuous dryland no-tiller with several crops, double crops, cover crops, cattle and grazing.
• Gail Fuller in Emporia, Kan., is a no-tiller with numerous crops, cover crops and grazing forages, has several livestock species and does intensive grazing.
• Keith and Ben Thompson in Osage City, Kan., are no-tillers with several crops, cover crops, grazing forages, cattle and intensive grazing.
Registration is limited to the first 50 people, with preference given to Nebraskans. The cost is $50 for Nebraska residents and $200 for residents of other states, based on double occupancy. There is an extra charge of $50 for those requesting a single room. The registration and cancellation deadline is June 10. No e-mail or phone registrations, as well as credit card payments, will be accepted.
