Western bean cutworm has become an increasingly important pest of corn in the Midwest. Populations in many states are increasing and, at the same time, some Bt hybrids that used to help with this pest are less and less effective as the insects gain resistance.

Kelley Tilmon’s continues the discussion on why some mainline defenses for Western bean cutworm have lost their effectiveness, and what other management options no-tillers might have. In addition to conventional spraying management and proper scouting she’ll also discuss the importance of trapping networks to manage this pest and limiting the damage to your corn crop.
