South African Farmer Grows Massive Tillage Radish

June 20, 2022

Jannie Keet's giant tillage radish (pictured above) is getting a lot of buzz from cover crop enthusiasts on social media. He planted it in the middle of spring (October) with a Piket fine seed no-till planter, in the South African province of North West.

"It's part of my pollinator mix around the fields," Keet says. "It houses beneficial insects for pest control. I didn't apply any chemicals or inorganic fertilizers. It broke off at about a meter, but went much deeper into the soil."
